LA Sports Acupuncture is the clinical practice of Jorga Houy, L.Ac., acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in orthopedics, pain management, and sports medicine. LA Sports Acupuncture is located in Highland Park, a neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles.
In addition to a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a Master’s Degree from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, Jorga is licensed by the California Acupuncture Board and has studied shamanism, massage, and has been a student of movement arts such as dance, yoga and martial arts for more than three decades. In addition to his private practice, Jorga has been a member of the medical staff for the LA Derby Dolls roller derby league, a clinical supervisor at both Dongguk University and Emperor’s College, and has been a lecturer at Dongguk Univeristy, Matrix International University, and for the Department of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science at California State University Los Angeles.
When asked why he became an acupuncturist, Jorga answers, “I’ve always had a desire to help people and I’ve always been amazed at the human body, as a child spending hours marveling at anatomy charts. I find that Chinese medicine satisfies this need to be of service to others and to help them get out of suffering, while at the same time combining my interests in philosophy, anatomy, and the psyche. When someone walks into my office in pain and walks out without that pain, it is a pretty amazing experience for me; to be able to assist someone in eliminating that suffering is a true gift I am thankful for every day.”
